englischAfter a long term of strict regulation the national coach market was finally deregulated in January 2013. Although the regulatory principle of the national express coach market was based on free market initiative of transport operators, the market was strongly regulated by the national law on public transport. The concession procedure privileged incumbent operators which led to the fact that in actuality free competition between transport operators was avoided. After a description of the former regulation system and a profound view of the European influences on the German coach market, the author elaborates the main law changes which represent the legal ground for the liberalisation of the national express coach market. At the same time the book reveals several problems connected to the new concession procedure in the long-distance transport market which have to be resolved in the future.
