The economics of religion are the framework for the research. This innovative field describes the various crossings of religion and economy. The new discipline is systemized in the first part of the book. A methodological and theoretical structure for exploring the influence of religion on economic behavior is developed.
The structure then is applied to labor in market economy. Martin Luther’s mental model regarding his interpretation of labor is portrayed by analyzing texts of the reformer. A comparison with interpretations of work in today’s market economy follows.

Marktwirtschaft bedeutet mehr als die Ordnung der Ökonomie. Was genau dieses ‚Mehr’ der Marktwirtschaft ausmacht, wird entlang des ökonomisch zentralen Aspektes des Arbeitens beschrieben.
Die verbundenen Fragen werden religionsökonomisch aufgeschlossen. Religionsökonomie beschreibt den Schnittbereich von Religion und Wirtschaft.
