englischUploading a picture on the internet is at the same time the most comfortable and the most effective way to show oneself to a multitude of people within a very short period of time. In many cases the question remains whether the upload of pictures constitutes at the same time a personality rights violation.

The examination at hand depicts to the reader when the urge to self-expression or to the portrayal of others exceeds the boundaries of admissibility and shall sensitise in order to act legally compliant in the future. Platform operators are instructed at the same time to design their services in order to counteract rights violations already in the forefront. Finally, there is an explanation for the legislator’s and the court’s duty to ensure the required legal protection of images.

Reading this analysis is recommended for everyone using the internet on a daily basis without deeming it an extralegal sphere.

»Das Werk kann daher nicht nur Juristen, sondern auch internetaffinen Nutzern uneingeschränkt empfohlen werden.«
