englischWith the term “profiling“ the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) covers data processings

of different business sectors relating to the evaluation of personal aspects. The statutory Definition raises questions: Is a profiling, from a data protection point of view, to be treated differently than a “normal” data processing? Which privacy risks might a profiling entail and how can those be mitigated in an economically feasible way? Does the GDPR allow for a capitalization of profiles? Under the umbrella of a “profiling perspective” the author reveals, in a transsectoral comparison, both practicable and data protection compliant frameworks for single employee profilings, customer profilings and profilings of the insured.
