englischHow and why (former) organizational insiders with insights into corporate or administrational misconduct become Whistleblowers and their actual potential from a controlling point of view is analysed with this qualitative in depth interview study for the first time in the German-speaking area. Therefor, in depth interviews with 28 Whistleblowers/silent observers and additional 10 interviews with law enforcement representatives, compliance officers etc. were conducted. The analysis provides several new insights into the whistleblowing process and the potential for stimulating (external) employee disclosures. Specifically the book includes: four personality types with varying whistleblowing probabilities; an objective and subjective whistleblowing model covering the situational dynamics and the decision process in detail from an extrinsic and intrinsic perspective; the relevant causal factors and their potential of being stimulated externally; implications for the further whistleblowing research and legislature.

Prof. Dr. Stefan Behringer, ZRFC 2017, 143
