englischIn contrast to his fellow philosophers Hegel and Fichte, Schelling tended to only marginally address issues relating to state and legal philosophy. His overriding interest in the fundamental ontological prioritisation of human freedom is probably the reason why he conducts a fascinating examination of it in relation to overarching issues such as nature being the basis that facilitates human freedom, the conception of the Johannine Church and the debate about the normativity of good and evil in modern life. Throughout his life, Schelling held on to his ideas of organic unity, completeness and identity, in whose shadow the reality of states, which he regarded as something merely mechanical, remained entirely underdeveloped.
