englischAn enriching read for all those who would like to take a closer look at Johann Sebastian Bach’s fascinating compositional workshop: Bach used the song melody, which for us today is primarily connoted with the text “O Haupt voll Blut und Wunden”, in his cantatas and oratorios many times and in many different ways. This study examines Bach’s compositional creativity using the above example and sheds light on his astonishing musical-theological mediation skills. Supported by numerous historical documents, it can be shown how deeply and elementally Bach felt connected to the German Protestant hymnody of his time.
Eine bereichernde Lektüre für alle, die einen genaueren Blick in Johann Sebastian Bachs faszinierende Kompositionswerkstatt werfen möchten: Bach hat diejenige Liedmelodie, die für uns heute vor allem mit dem Text „O Haupt voll Blut und Wunden“ konnotiert ist, in seinen Kantaten und Oratorien vielfach und auf vielfältig verschiedene Weise verarbeitet. Diese Studie untersucht Bachs kompositorische Kreativität am genannten Beispiel und wirft ein Schlaglicht auf seine erstaunliche musikalisch-theologische Vermittlungskompetenz. Unterfüttert mit zahlreichen historischen Dokumenten kann gezeigt werden, wie tief und elementar sich Bach mit dem deutschsprachigen protestantischen Liedgut seiner Zeit verbunden fühlte.
