englischThis book examines the exemplary function of German education policy in the early phase of Japanese colonial rule on Taiwan on the basis of the inspection tours carried out on behalf of the Taiwan General Government (Taiwan sotokufu) in the German Empire (1895-1914). The analysis of the inspection reports shows the focus and assessment of educational policy in various German territories and discusses the extent to which the Taiwan General Government intended to adopt this policy in the context of colonial political conditions on Taiwan.
