Dieses Buch gibt praktische Empfehlungen für die Koordination der Entwicklungszusammenarbeit. Es analysiert, wie Entwicklungsorganisationen in Partnerländern kooperieren – und welchen entscheidenden Einfluss die Angestellten vor Ort darauf haben. Dafür wurde ein interdisziplinärer Forschungsansatz verfolgt, der auf Luhmanns Systemtheorie fußt und diese mit umfassender Feldforschung in Indonesien und Madagaskar kombiniert. Im Ergebnis wird dekonstruiert, inwieweit bi- und multilaterale Akteure von ökonomischen und geopolitischen Interessen einerseits, und von transnationaler Solidarität andererseits geprägt sind. Schließlich wird aufgezeigt, dass informale Treffen auf sektoraler Ebene am besten für effiziente Koordination geeignet sind.
englischThis book provides hands-on recommendations on how to best coordinate development cooperation activities. This interdisciplinary study applies one of sociology’s grand theories to guide its comprehensive field research in two regions. As a result, it analyses how individuals’ actions scale up to organisational behaviour and inter-organisational cooperation. It also deconstructs how bilateral and multilateral organisations are shaped by donors’ national—economical and geopolitical—interests. Moreover, it shows how their employees at the country level balance these objectives with the ideal of transnational solidarity. Finally, it reveals that informal meetings at the sectoral level are the best ways to coordinate and align activities efficiently.
