englischThe significance and assessment of distribution and trade in the Greco-Roman world has been heavily debated for well over 100 years. Discussing the market both as a form of economic integration and as a concrete place for the actual exchange of goods has still not become obsolete even though the dogmatic primitivism–modernism debate has been increasingly overcome and replaced with the turn to analytical tools and explanatory models of modern economics. This volume is dedicated to the topic of communication in this respect. Its contributions examine the exchange of information as communication processes among market players, focusing on imperial Rome.
