Ordering at NomosShop

Placing an order at NomosShop is quick and easy. Here you will find information on the individual steps of the ordering process summarized briefly for you.

1. Payment Methods

You can choose from four payment methods in the NomosShop:

  • Purchase on account *

  • PayPal

  • Credit card (Visa, Mastercard, Maestro)

* Purchase on account is only possible if

  • your billing address is within Germany.
  • the value of goods (gross including shipping costs) in the shopping basket is less than €300.
  • the shopping basket does not contain a virtual product (e-book).

2. What does "can be pre-ordered" mean?

You can already order a title even if it is not yet available. The advantage: You don't have to worry about anything afterwards. As soon as the title is released, you will be among 
the first to receive it.

3. What is the book price fixing?

The book price fixing is a legal or contractual price fixing for books and similar products. It requires publishers to set and announce an unchangeable price for each book, which 
then becomes fix for all retailers, meaning it must not be undercut or exceeded.

4. What price types are there?

  • Normal Price:
    The standard price set by the publisher based on the book price binding law and 
    mandatory for all retailers.
  • Subscription Price:
    Offered to introduce a product and is cheaper than the normal price. The introductory 
    price (also called subscription price) can be offered at most three months after the 
    product's release. After that, the normal price applies.
  • Special Price and Member Price:
    A discounted price (special price) for which there can be various reasons. For example, 
    if you buy all volumes of a work at once, the total price may be cheaper than the sum of 
    the individual volumes. Additionally, there may be member or special prices for certain 
    professional groups and association members. If an advantage price is offered, you will 
    find the necessary information directly on the respective product page.
  • Continuation price for loose-leaf works:
    The basic work has a discounted price, but this obliges you to purchase a certain number of 
    supplementary deliveries. These are sent to you when they appear and are charged at the 
    respective normal price. This is how you keep your work up to date. (For cancellation 
    periods, please refer to the information on the product).

5. Can E-Books be returned or exchanged?

No, E-Books are products that, due to their digital nature, are not suitable for return. When purchasing, you waive your right of withdrawal. Therefore, a return or exchange is 
not possible.

6. How do I get access to NomosOnline modules?

You can also find NomosOnline modules in the Nomos Shop and select them directly there.

7. Magazines

  • Are trial issues/trial subscriptions available for magazines?                                                                                                                                                                                                                            Yes. Trial issues are usually - but not always - free of charge. Trial subscriptions are often available at particularly favorable conditions.   • How do I provide proof for the student subscription?
    Send the proof (e.g., your enrollment certificate) by email to service@nomos.de 
  • Can individual issues be ordered?
    Yes, we are happy to provide you with individual issues if possible.
  • Can covers be ordered?
    Yes, for some magazines, covers can be ordered.
  • Can past volumes be ordered?
    Yes, in addition to the current volume of a magazine, you can also have the respective 
    previous volume delivered. Please contact customer service for this.

8. Can I return free of charge?

Yes, we offer this service within Germany.
Please use our DHL return service directly for this or log in and click on "Order Overview and Returns".
Important: Since there is no return form, please enclose a copy of the invoice. This way, we can quickly and easily issue a credit note.

9. Can I get discounts?

Generally, books, loose-leaf works, and many magazines are subject to book price binding. Discounts and other deductions are not possible.

Quantity discounts can, however, be granted – within the scope of price binding – under certain conditions. If a customer orders a larger quantity of the same title, we can offer quantity discounts in certain cases. The prerequisite, however, is that all books are intended for personal use – and consequently, there is only one invoice recipient.

10. How can I order with a discount as an author from the publishing house?

As an author of Nomos-Verlag and its imprints (Ergon, Rombach Wissenschaft, Tectum, Georg Olms Verlag, Verlag Karl Alber), you receive a discount when ordering titles from the programmes of these publishers. If you are ordering from our online shop for the first time, please send a short e-mail to service@nomos.de. Please include your first and last name and a reference ISBN. As soon as we have verified you as an author, you can place your order as an author and receive the contractually agreed author discount.

11. How can I use advantage or introductory prices?
