Description
The Buddhist House in Berlin-Frohnau was built in 1924 by Dr Paul Dahlke. He practised and taught Buddhism in the temple. His sister Bertha Dahlke, also a Buddhist, continued his life's work from 1928. From 1944 the house and garden were abandoned for thirteen years. Only the temple was used by Buddhist groups from West Berlin. In 1957 a foundation from Colombo bought the property and handed it over to a Buddhist missionary organisation. To mark the 100th anniversary of the Buddhist House, this collection of essays introduces the people and groups who have used the house over its long history, and is aimed at historians, religious scholars and those interested in Buddhism.
