Postcolonial studies now fill libraries. Europe and North America are no longer the centre of the world; a 'third world' has made its presence felt. The author takes up the formula of the 'Global South', the latest manifestation of a non-aligned formation overcoming the East-West divide, which has become explosive as an alliance of countries of the Global South in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. A collection of older and new texts written for this volume reconstructs the geopolitical development in which countries of the Global South themselves became a bloc and reverted to autocratic forms of rule. Political science considerations alternate with art and literary criticism.
