Description
The Protestant churches are in the midst of fundamental changes: societal shifts resulting in declining church loyalty and membership numbers. The financial and personnel constraints that have already occurred and will become worse in the future require fundamental restructuring. We observe that projects and processes in the regional churches, which we empirically study, are caught in a tension between adaptation and innovation. While adaptation to external change processes is more focused on mitigating the consequences, an original concept of innovation could gain significance in rediscovering the potential of Christian religious practice in society under changed conditions.
