Description
This book contains a new critical edition of Aeschylus' Prometheus Vinctus, which is the first to be based on a complete collation of all the manuscripts (over one hundred of them) relating to this tragedy, which have been preserved in various libraries in Europe. It must be considered that less than a third of the available witnesses’ accounts on Aeschylus' play have been systematically collated so far. This study’s critical apparatus offers a selection of significant readings and plausible conjectures, while its documentary appendix enables the reader to find minor variations and frequent transcription errors.
