Aktenzeichen XY…ungelöst (1967–1997)

Entertainment media have so far played a marginal role in the historical discourse on crime and security. This media-historical study makes a contribution to historical security research by using the popular German TV programme ‘Aktenzeichen XY...ungelöst’ to investigate how media professionals portrayed crime between 1967 and 1997, how the public reacted to it and how the programme was ultimately received by viewers. Special emphasis is placed on analysing public and individual perceptions of crime and security, which were influenced by media representations.
