Description
This issue examines legal doctrine as a form of legal-academic self-understanding. Is it coming under pressure in the face of social, technological, and ecological change — as the initial diagnosis suggests? Taking private law as its starting point, the contributions unfold a range of intradisciplinary perspectives: from classical understandings of doctrine, historical and comparative countermodels, to regulatory private law, transnational law, pluralisation, responsiveness, and the climate regime. 'Alternative Doctrine' appears not as a solution, but as an open problem constellation that asks when doctrine must be preserved, opened up, shifted, or exceeded.
