Description
Luxury consumption is usually seen as something extraordinary that arouses admiration and desire, but is also criticised for being excessive and wasteful. This anthology discusses various aspects: Where does luxury begin, what economic effects does it have, and do luxury goods promote innovation? What does ‘new luxury’ mean, what are the motives for consuming luxury, and can the less affluent also participate or do they resort to imitations? In addition, we will examine the blurring of boundaries, opportunities for sustainability and possible improvements in quality of life.
