What do Indigenous land rights, colonial administrative writing, interwoven images, textile thinking, and the history of addressability and digital infrastructure have in common? They are all cultural techniques - and, as such - constitutive of what we experience as reality under shifting historical and media-specific conditions. By focusing on ‘other’ cultural techniques, this volume expands an established research paradigm beyond its previous canon: to non-Western orders of ordering, marginalised media, and practices that have thus far remained largely unexamined.
