Description
How does moral unease become a well-grounded ethical reflection? This volume does not introduce students of philosophy and ethics, as well as related social sciences and humanities, to a “ready-made morality,” but to the concepts, methods, and forms of argument through which domain-specific moralities can be analysed with precision. Its chapter sequence is designed as a didactic expansion of what counts as ethically relevant: from medical ethics (persons and institutions) to animal ethics (sentient beings) and finally environmental ethics—extending to species, biodiversity, habitats, and ecosystems. Exemplary debates make clear how ethics, as a methodological framework, gives moral deliberation a precise structure.
