Description
During her lifetime, Anna de Noailles was one of the most recognised protagonists in the literary field of the Belle Époque. After the success of her first volume of poetry Le Cœur innombrable (1901), her texts were enthusiastically received. In 1913, the London Times described her as ‘the greatest author that the 20th century has produced in France’. As an avowed European, socialist and Dreyfusard, she also adopted non-conformist socio-political positions. This book is the first to show the central importance of this dazzling author of modernism.
