Due to state restrictions, Alfred Alexander lost all his possessions and his entire fortune within a few years. Having been left penniless, he managed to escape to England in 1939. Immediately after the war, he sparked a controversy that lasted until his death in 1979, concerning financial compensation for the injustice he had suffered. While the topics of robbery and compensation have already been the focus of academic research, the individuals who profited from the plundering of Jewish assets have thus far received little attention. This research uses specific examples to trace the paths of those who personally profited and opens up a debate on this little-discussed topic.
