Bauleitplanung in Gebieten nach den §§ 30 und 34 BauGB

This volume presents a summary of the latest academic conference on urban and regional planning which took place at the Technical University in Berlin. The conference addressed current demands in urban development with regard to ‘urban land use planning in areas according to §§ 30 and 34 of the BauGB’ (Germany’s town and country planning code). Despite amendments to urban development and environmental legislation, the over-planning of already planned areas (§ 30 BauGB) and of unplanned interior land areas (§ 34 BauGB) is always topical. Questions concerning the avoidance of planning damage, the consideration of property rights, the possibility of securing urban land use planning and the choice of the most suitable planning instrument are relevant. Furthermore, environmental law requirements play a decisive role in this respect. Also, current events, such as the introduction of the ‘Urbane Area’ (§ 6a of the BauNVO) often make the over-planning of areas according to §§ 30–34 of the BauGB more complex than greenfield planning.
