Beiträge zur soziologischen Werte- und Gewaltforschung

What are values and how have they been evolving? Why do people turn to violence and why do they do so with declining or increasing frequency? Such issues are continuously and controversially discussed in both academic and public discourse. The articles collected in this edition offer a cumulative overview of various conceptual and methodological approaches that have been designed within the field of sociology in striving to answer such questions. Although these articles have already been published before, they continue to be relevant for present discussions: they point to connections and differences between various approaches that are usually treated separately; and they offer suggestions on how to enrich our strategies in terms of empirical investigations and data analyses.
