Bernard Bolzanos Lehre von Grund und Folge

This volume offers the first comprehensive reconstruction of Bolzano's doctrine in the form of an axiomatic theory. Bernard Bolzano's theory of ground and consequence did not receive the attention it deserved in Bolzano research for a long time. Interest in this doctrine, which is fundamental to Bolzano's philosophy, arose in connection with the scientific-theoretical question of an appropriate definition of the concept of a scientific explanation, in connection with problems of modern proof theory, but also through the problem of grounding, which is intensively discussed today in the context of analytic ontology.
