Bestands- und Nutzungsdatenauskünfte der Anbieter digitaler Dienste an Strafverfolgungs- und Gefahrenabwehrbehörden

Despite their practical importance, security-related data requests to digital services are often overshadowed by requests to telecommunications providers. This study addresses this by analysing the relevant provisions concerning digital services. One focus is on determining the suitability of these tools for criminal prosecution and security. Particular attention is paid to the constitutional foundations of the procedures, especially the so-called “Doppeltürmodell”, which is critically analysed. In addition, a reorganisation of the data requests based on their intensity is proposed.
