Noise pollution caused by rail traffic is an issue of lasting social, economic and political relevance. One way to reduce this undesirable side effect can be the official order of operation-regulating measures - such as speed or passage restrictions. The work analyses the most relevant legal issues under national and European law in this context. The main focus is on the legal planning of railways. The legal situation outside the sectoral planning is also examined. On this basis, potential reform possibilities are also pointed out.
