Bewusstseinsbildung und Bewusstseinsidentität

In the modern age, two developments are central, whose connections are considered self-evident: an overall progressing politicisation seems unthinkable without the simultaneous expansion of the state schools system. However, the effect of schools is unclear, since the ability to participate in political participation cannot be equated with the acquisition of formal education alone – in as much as politicisation has, as a prerequisite, the formation of a fundamental awareness of co-existence, which cannot emerge from schooling itself. As a space for experiences which contrast in their structure to everyday life, school ultimately forces the development of political awareness as a principle of negation.
