Bildung für den demokratischen und sozialen Rechtsstaat

Universities of public administration and police in Germany have an explicit mandate to uphold the principles of the free democratic constitutional order through teaching, research, and third mission activities. In this edited volume, faculty members and staff of the University of Police and Public Administration of North Rhine-Westphalia examine this mandate from legal, social scientific, educational, and ethical perspectives. They reflect on the nature of this responsibility, the requirements for education for democracy and the strengthening of the social and constitutional state governed by the rule of law, and the ways in which future challenges can be addressed. The volume is published to mark the 50th anniversary of the University of Police and Public Administration of North Rhine-Westphalia.
