Description
Why does a choir come together? What are the reasons why it articulates itself? This theater studies thesis examines the significance of the speaking choir, which regained importance at the end of the last century and appears in many forms in contemporary theater. Starting with the ancient choir, Nika Enoa Jäger examines Alexander Weise's production “Rights for Children” with regard to the eventfulness of choral lamentation. Jäger analyzes the conditions of its realization and highlights the need to critically question theater education's habitual portrayal of marginal-ized positions and to recognize the potential of the choir as a voice for the excluded.
