Christian Wolff. Gesammelte Werke

The first comprehensive edition of Christian Wolff's scientific writings, which will be supplemented by a series of materials and documents of Wolff's philosophy, is now complete. It includes Wolff's legal, mathematical and physical treatises and makes available a work whose importance for the history of science in general is undisputed. For this new editions, Wolff's writings were subjected to a thorough editioral process, taking into acount considerations of sources, influence and taxonomy. The relevant studies, as well as the information given to the reader in introductions, textual commentaries and bibliographies, form an important part of the modern view of Wolff's philosophy. Beyond doubt, this new edition, primarily quoted in research literature, and its scholarly apparatus have greatly inspired the study of the history of philosophy and law in the eighteenth century as well as the history of science in general. This is shown by the recent wide international focus on eighteenth century Enlightenment rationalism, so long overshadowed by Kantian philosophy.
