The regulation of cookies and comparable technologies was recently amended in Germany by the Telecommunications-Telemedia-Data Protection Act (TTDSG). Milena Tyl uses a case study which data protection changes have resulted from the entry into force of the TTDSG. Her investigation focuses on the storage of user preferences, reach analysis, fraud prevention, usability enhancement, and online marketing. Tyl examines these aspects according to the current and retrospective legal situation before the TTDSG comes into force and works out their results in the course of a comparison.
