Description
The changes brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic have affected numerous areas, including our perception of many places associated with the health crisis. Using the examples of Sweden and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, this study is the first to analyze in greater detail how the pandemic has influenced the media’s narrative construction of places and regions, and what journalistic spatial narratives of these times reveal about the pandemic’s narrative tendencies and essential moral values. Drawing on narrative theory, the study examines the pervasive concept of 'crisis' and presents an innovative methodological approach that combines literary studies, discourse analysis, and corpus analysis to study current and future discourses of crisis.
