Description
This volume deals with women in the highest judicial office in the Federal Republic of Germany and the German Democratic Republic in the period from 1949 to 1989/90.
In both constitutions, equal rights mandates determined the formal legal equality of men and women. However, the legal reality was different. On the basis of the different objectives and historical experiences of the states, similarities and differences are shown, whereby emancipatory achievements as well as the losses since reunification come into focus. The book is aimed at all those interested in constitutional history, the judiciary and gender equality.
