To what degree do the antitrust provisions of European trade agreements promote the convergence of national antitrust laws? Against the backdrop of the strong ties between international antitrust law and free trade, the author comprehensively examines the convergence effects of European trade agreements. Based on the hypothesis that bilateral regulations serve as a model for a potential multilateral antitrust framework, the author then addresses the fundamental question of which guidelines should shape the design of a global antitrust regime.
