Description
Timesharing, as an economic concept, is rampant in the holiday home sector. Europe wide, it has developed into a highly promising tourism product. Despite a Union timesharing directive which came out as early as 1994, its shape in law is different from one country to the next. This makes it difficult for interested parties to reach a proper decision and also - in the event of a dispute - can mean unforeseeable consequences. The author, a woman, delves into the various ways in which the Union Member States deal with timesharing in law. In so doing she has hewed out four standard types for us and the basic characteristics of each while bringing into the fray, at this stage already, the various bills under discussion in the Union"s Member States. On account of repeated public scandals, important consumer issues have enjoyed the limelight and our author has placed them centre stage. An assessment of the time-sharing directive and the shape it takes in the individual countries, as yet rather puny, rounds off the work. As a current issue reference work, its audience is practitioners in the holiday homes business, consultants, lawyers, the justiciary and scientists.
