Description
Two hundred years after Schelling's Erlangen Lecture of 1821, a previously unknown key manuscript by F. W. J. Schelling has been made available for the first time. The text provides a unique insight into the systematic aspirations of his late thinking and marks a highlight within German Idealism. Based on the newly introduced concept of the “unprethinkable,” the author reconstructs the system and method of Schelling's philosophy. This concept enables a fundamental exploration of the inner tension, ambivalence, and radicalism in Schelling's thinking. The book thus makes a substantial contribution to Schelling research and opens up new perspectives on systematic philosophy, metaphysics, and the history of German Idealism.
