In law, the death of a natural person marks a temporal break in their influence on legal transactions. At the same time, instruments such as the execution of wills and trans- and post-mortem powers of attorney open up possibilities for ensuring that the will continues to have a limited effect beyond death through third parties. This dissertation systematically examines the relationship between these instruments, elaborates on their dogmatic foundations, and highlights overlaps, distinctions, and practical conflicts. The aim is to provide a precise classification of their respective functions and limits of effect.
