Das Zivilgesetzbuch von Louisiana

The translation of the Louisiana Civil Code into German gives research, doctrine and practice in German-speaking jurisdictions for the first time immediate access to one of the most illustrious, albeit in Europe relatively unknown, private law codifications.
Louisiana belongs to the family of mixed jurisdictions. This is due to its history as the territory of what is today Louisiana was under French and Spanish colonial rule before being acquired by the United States.
The Louisiana Civil Code boasts 3,556 provisions, which are housed in an introductory title and four books (governing persons, things, acquisition of ownership, and conflicts).
The author teaches Louisiana Property Law, Public International Law and Introduction to U.S. Law at Loyola University New Orleans College of Law. He is a member of the Academy of European Private Law.
