Datenschutz und Data Science

Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Big Data pose a challenge to the European data protection law. Due to the technology-neutral design of the General Data Protection Regulation, the requirements for these kinds of applications are unclear. The author therefore examines the compatibility of data science with data protection law using the example of employee data protection. Additionally, a possible legislative need for action on European level is explored as well as the extent to which the member states still have room for maneuver, at least in the area of employee data protection.
