Demokratie und Demokratiebildung im Sport

Democratic states, societies and ways of life are currently facing a wide range of challenges — from growing polarisation to a decline in civic engagement and a loss of trust in institutions. Against this backdrop, sports and physical activity are coming to the fore as widespread social structures and fields of practice in which aspects such as participation, representation, power relations, decision-making mechanisms and discrimination are concretely negotiated daily. This book addresses key issues relating to democracy and democratic education in sport, examining them from various sports science perspectives, aiming to stimulate dialogue between sport, politics and academia.
