Denken in Widersprüchen

Carl Schmitt thought and wrote in contradictions. Was this already a rebellion of thought in the sense of Alain Badiou? Or was Schmitt – as some interpreters believe – merely an opportunist, albeit an eloquent one? A certain recalcitrance towards the so-called 'mainstream' moved him throughout his life. From the very beginning of his academic career, his sometimes highly provocative theories attracted the attention of the scientific community – and often beyond. His incisiveness and polished style have always made his writings worth reading.
The third edition is the result of a large number of new publications. It focuses on the central concepts of his work, such as the relationship between friend and foe, the legitimacy of political decisions, large-scale thinking and, last but not least, reason of state and the state of emergency.
