Description
May freedom be regarded as an ontological concept, namely as the metaphysical ‘ground’, which has such a long tradition? There is no lack of attempts in contemporary research to update Schelling's philosophy in various ways. However, the aim of this volume is to show how Schelling himself developed the concepts of ‘ground’ and ‘freedom’ from 1804 onwards and connected them so indissolubly that new potentiality can be attributed to metaphysical thinking. To this end, the interpretations by the Italian philosopher Luigi Pareyson (1918–1991) prove to be decisive in understanding this fundamental dimension of Schelling's thought. In addition, readers are offered a German translation of an essay by Pareyson.
