This thesis deals with the legal implementation of ‘Deutschlandtakt’, an integrated periodic timetable for the German rail transport. Its legal analysis is based on economic findings and places the timetable concept in the context of the ‘Verkehrswende’ (the transformation of transportation). This research project examines various models for the implementation of ‘Deutschlandtakt’ in long-distance rail transport. It analyses whether the concept is compatible with the constitutional and legal requirements for the railroad sector. The study is completed by considerations on the concept’s implementation in local rail passenger transport and rail freight transport as well as on competition issues.
