With Regulation (EU) 2018/302, the EU legislator has significantly changed the legal framework for discrimination against end customers on the basis of geographical characteristics (“geoblocking”) in online retail. These regulations, which adding to the existing provisions, in particular under competition law, pose numerous challenges for the e-commerce practice.

This book examines the new regulatory framework for geoblocking in online retail and clarifies key practical issues in dealing with the provisions of the Geoblocking Regulation. It analyzes the question of whether the EU legislator has achieved its aim of creating an uniform legal framework for geoblocking.
