How does the protection of terms under agricultural law relate to the information model of the internal market, the fundamental principles of the Union's (unfair) competition law, and how should it be assessed? The thesis addresses these fundamental questions for the first time. Hereto, it examines the tensions arising from the interaction between food and agricultural law, analyses the relationship of these legal fields and their legal basis, and reviews the agricultural term protection. The author demonstrates that agricultural law can be seamlessly integrated into the internal market legal system and defines new principles for the distinction of legal basis. The legal analysis is complemented by an empirical study on consumer perception.
