Description
This book tracked the emergence and development of urban climate policy in German cities, focusing particularly on the how structural factors and key municipal actors contribute towards better integration of mitigation and adaptation into local administrative structures. Drawing on an in-depth study, it presents empirical findings from case studies of 33 large and medium-sized cities, and contains recommendations for practitioners in local politics and administration. The authors have extensive academic and practitioner backgrounds in political and administrative sciences (Kristine Kern and Peter Eckersley), as well as human geography and urban studies (Wolfgang Haupt).
