The interdisciplinary thesis considers the question whether the legal instruments introduced by the legislator to increase acceptance along the new planning and approval regime for the expansion of the power transmission network can actually increase public acceptance.
The work breaks new ground in two respects: On the one hand, theoretical and empirical research results of social and environmental psychology are opened up for legal discourse to determine the characteristics and requirements of acceptance as a psychological phenomenon. On the other hand, with the help of the knowledge gained from „legal field research”, a realistic perspective on procedural practice is built into the analysis. Measured against the psychological scale and considering the procedural reality, it showes that the legal regulations sometimes even run contrary to the aim of increasing acceptance.
