This work comprehensively analyzes and evaluates how the special characteristics of the employment of assistant coaches in professional football affect the application of German labor law. In particular, the differences to head coaches are elaborated. The focus of the study is on how the integration into a coaching team influences the classification of assistant coaches under labor law. In particular, the effects on fixed-term contracts, especially relevant in professional football, as well as further termination possibilities are examined.
