A car that drives autonomously while the driver answers emails is no longer a vision of the future. The Eighth Act to Amend the Road Traffic Act of June 16, 2017, attempted to provide such new mobility innovations with the appropriate legal framework. In this context, this paper looks in particular at the liability and responsibility issues for accident consequences arising therefrom. It is analyzed to what extent the general regulations on liability in interaction with the newly created special regulations for automatized driving solve the question of liability appropriately. On this basis, an evaluation of the amendment of the law and the current liability system is then undertaken.
